Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar has issued instructions to expedite the development work on the Firdous Market Underpass for its completion by the first week of September, according to a post published on the authority’s Facebook page on August 3.

Tarar has also permitted the recruitment of additional labour to complete the project on time and has directed the concerned officials to ensure the provisions required. These instructions were issued while the DG and Member Governing Body LDA Engineer Amir Riaz Qureshi were visiting the development site of Firdous Market Underpass.
The visiting officials were informed that the development work on the project is over 60% complete. They were told that presently the shuttering work is being executed and that Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has installed a new sewerage line for the underpass.

Moreover, the authorities were briefed that the project is aiming to be completed by September 5. They were told that the underpass will accommodate over 91,000 vehicles on a daily basis and save millions in additional fuel expense.
