Director General (DG) Punjab Wildlife and Parks Sohail Ashraf, during a press briefing, stated that the Obara Foundation had constructed an enclosure in DG Khan in 2010. ‘We have decided to establish the second safari of the province here,’ he added.
He also revealed that no additional funds would be required to execute this project and the existing finances will be enough for the restructuring process. Different species of deer, lion and other animals will be brought into the new safari, he added.

According to the DG, a temporary ban prevents the selling and purchasing of new birds and animals, which is why the surplus of animals from the previously established Lahore Safari and Lahore Zoo will be shifted here. He revealed that the initial work had been completed on the safari – with activation of waterfalls at two points and designing/ decoration of many picnic spots. Moreover, he said that Lahore Zoo Director Hasan Ali Sukhera had been tasked with the responsibility to provide the animals and establish the DG Khan Safari.
The DG stressed that the department was trying to utilise available funds to complete existing projects instead of launching new mega ones.
