Lahore: The 108th meeting of the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) approved the establishment of an industrial estate and an artisan village in Dera Ghazi Khan, according to news sources.
Provincial Minister for Trade and Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal chaired the meeting, which was also attended by PSIC managing director, industrial secretary and board members. The meeting approved the development of a small industrial estate over 50 acres in size in the Rakh Choti Dilana locale, as well as an artisan village in Taunsa Sharif that is expected to be spread over 16 kanals.

Minister Iqbal expressed his hope that the development of an artisan village would promote local heritage and facilitate over 400 artisans living in the area. He also issued directions to review another artisan village project proposed for the Kartarpur Corridor. An industrial estate is also to be established on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway to boost trade and economy.

Additionally, the meeting examined the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme (being managed by the Akhuwat Foundation) and also directed the officials concerned to make the defunct furniture design centre in Chiniot operational.
