Islamabad: DG Khan Cement Company Limited (DGKC) – the country’s largest cement manufacturer – will be exporting cement to the United States (US) for the first time, according to news published on June 14.

Bloomberg reported that DGKC Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Inayat Ullah Niazi informed that the cement manufacturer will be shipping 50,000 tons of building material to the US. Presently, the US-bound ship is being loaded at the Karachi port. It was mentioned that this sale of cement to the US will increase export receipts of the country.

Reportedly, the cement sales for May 2022 have decreased by 15.85% to 3.32 million tons in comparison to last year’s sales, which stood at 3.94 million tons. As per the details shared by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), export dispatches declined from 746,550 tons in May 2021 to 171,915 tons in May 2022. Additionally, during the 11 months period (July-May) of the existing financial year, the total cement dispatches (export and domestic) were 47.62 million tons, which is 8.8% lower than last year.
