Gilgit: Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister (CM) Khalid Khurshid Khan inaugurated development work on the alternate road in the Tatapani area of Chilas so that travellers can avoid the landslide-prone section of the Karakoram Highway, according to news published on June 7.

CM Khurshid stated that the alternative road should be constructed on an emergency basis. As per the details, the PKR 55 million worth project is expected to be completed by December 1. Moreover, CM Khurshid informed that the special economic zone was being established in Diamer for the development of the area. He also disclosed that power and sewerage projects have been started in Chilas. Additionally, Chilas Development Authority is being set up. It was revealed that work on the Daral-Tangir road will start soon and medical, dental, and nursing colleges will be established in Chilas.

The ceremony was attended by Minister for Excise Haji Shah Baig, Diamer Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Ahmed, GB Assembly Member Maulana Fazal Rahim, and Minister for Health Haji Gulbar Khan.
