Rawalpindi: Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Narcotics Control and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Rashid Shafiq stated that development work on uplift schemes worth PKR 3 billion was underway in Rawalpindi, a news source reported.

As per the publication, he said that the projects were aimed at improving the livelihoods of the citizens of Rawalpindi. He said that an additional PKR 1 billion was utilised on various development schemes in several municipal councils. Additionally, he revealed that the construction of new building blocks in several colleges and fifteen schools was underway.

MNA Shafiq stated that he would prefer to speed up the work on Leh Expressway and the Mother-Child Hospital. Furthermore, he added that the development of new roads, streets, and building blocks in educational institutions would be completed within two years.

Previously, Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mahmood had asked the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project’s consultants to submit the feasibility report of the project till May 15, so that the approval process for the project could be initiated.
