Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Saqib Zaffar has said that the development work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) will begin this year, according to a news source. The commissioner shared this information while addressing the business community during his visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Monday.

Commissioner Zafar said that the business community, along with the RCCI members, were all stakeholders in the development of commercial and industrial projects proposed along the RRR route. For this purpose, suggestion will be invited from them, he added. He also sought proposals from the chamber members for transforming Rawalpindi into a model city.

He also refuted the rumours surrounding the land-acquisition process for Dhadocha Dam and Rawat Industrial Estate, and requested the traders to ignore them. He also mentioned that he would personally visit the industrial estate next week to address the concerns of the factory owners.

Moreover, he appreciated the feedback shared by the RCCI members regarding the beautification of Gymkhana Club and construction of new parking plazas to deal with the increasing traffic jams in the city.
