Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday – while presiding over a meeting of the working group of Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and Pakistan Islands Development Authority (PIDA) – was informed that a board had been constituted and the work on Ravi City will commence in January, according to news sources.

PM Khan said that the Chinese government and companies were interested in investing USD 3 billion in the Ravi City project of Lahore, and that this amount will not be a loan. He was further informed that ANGCC – a Global Investment Consortium- had also offered to invest USD 5 billion in the project on a partnership basis.

Khan reiterated that the Ravi City – an unprecedented and first of its kind mega project – that would resolve the urban issues of Lahore. Additional facilities will include potable water, clean environment, proper sewerage and modern housing for the residents of Lahore. Furthermore, it will create employment opportunities and promote local and national economy through huge foreign investment.
Regarding the Pakistan Islands Development Authority, the PM was informed that the environmental and master plan studies will be started in January.
