Peshawar: Senior Minister for Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Culture, Museums and Youth Affairs Muhammad Atif Khan recently stated that the Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) government had commenced with the construction work of four new tourist resorts in the province, a news source reported. He further stated that these sites were being developed in Thandiani (Abbottabad), Mankyal (Swat Valley), Madaklasht (Chitral), and Ganol (Mansehra).
The senior minister offered a detailed briefing on the new tourist zones being set up in the province, the investment opportunities offered by the tourism projects, KP government’s vision, existing challenges in the sector, Terms of References (ToRs), and other related matters.

He revealed that over 20 spots had been identified in the province and would be converted into tourism zones. Minister Atif said that tourist zones would also be extended to the newly-merged tribal districts to boost the local economy.

The minister was of the view that this new year will be the year of tourism in Pakistan. He said KP tourism zones would be established in line with international standards. The zones will have top-notch hotels, Gas stations, hospitals, jeep tracks and other needed facilities catering to travellers’ needs.
