Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan on Wednesday said that the provincial government had initiated various development projects in Quetta to transform it into a ‘safe and smart city’; further making notification of the schemes’ PKR 20 billion construction worth.

He said that the provincial executive would convert Quetta into a safe city during the project’s initial phase; adding that the smart city initiative would be completed in the second phase. For making Quetta a safe city, installation of CCTV cameras was in process.
With regard to the Sabzal Road expansion project, the CM said that the incumbent government had expedited work on Quetta’s beautification. He added that with the beginning of the spring season, many road expansion projects (previously halted due to extreme weather conditions) had resumed.

CM Kamal told the media that the authorities concerned would commence with Sariyab Road expansion in the coming months. He added that they planned to widen the Prince Road, Qumbrani Road, and Patel Road. He stated that they were also working on developing streets in downtown Quetta as well as other cities of the province.
