Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Monday (November 22) disclosed that 199 development projects are underway in South Balochistan, at the total cost of PKR 601 billion, according to news sources.

Federal Minister Umar, while addressing the ‘National Workshop on Balochistan’, highlighted Pakistan’s future trajectory and development projects and encouraged the exchange of perspectives through the lens of Balochistan. The workshop was attended by several politicians and notables of Balochistan.
Sharing details about the Southern Balochistan development package, Federal Minister Umar stated that said package focuses on employment opportunities, digital connectivity, and health & education facilities. He went on to say that the digital Balochistan will generate employment opportunities for the region.
The minister stated that the federal government has provided maximum resources for the speedy development of the province and to bring it at par with other provinces. Keeping in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, a special development package was announced for backward areas including Gilgit-Baltistan, South Balochistan, and 14 priority districts.

Moreover, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Khalid Mansoor briefed the attendees about the projects under the CPEC initiative. He added that substantial work was underway to uplift the region. The PM’s aide mentioned that the development of Balochistan will pave the way for regional connectivity.
