Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly passed its provincial budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 on 22nd May 2018, in which a major chunk was reserved for development projects, according to a news report. The total budget stands at PKR 352.3 billion of which PKR 288.3 billion has been allocated for development and non-development projects. Under the Public Sector Development Programmes, PKR 20.19 billion has been allocated for the communication sector, the highest amount when compared with all other provinces. The funds for these will go to 925 schemes, including 567 new ones.
In order to collect more taxes, the provincial government has decided to accelerate the performance of the Balochistan Revenue Authority. This is expected to cover the budget deficit of PKR 62 billion, which the province currently faces.
