Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Thursday stated that the province’s development budget would remain unchanged despite the economic issues caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — a news source reported. The minster made these comments while chairing a meeting of the provincial cabinet.

He said that the majority of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the next year would be used to complete the projects that are currently underway. He added that the health infrastructure would be improved through the upcoming budget in order to deal with the challenges posed by the coronavirus.
The CM further said that 100% of the allocations for development projects in the province had been issued before the coronavirus pandemic. However, he added that the utilisation of these funds had slowed due to the ongoing lockdown. Still, the provision of about 85% of the funds has been ensured for the end of the fiscal year.

CM Khan also took the opportunity to say that strict timelines would be issued to the departments for the completion of development projects after the Budget 2020-21 was released.
