Islamabad: Minister for Housing and Works Maulana Abdul Wasay on Tuesday (August 23) launched the development work of the Green Enclave-II (Sky Gardens) Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme, news sources reported.

On the occasion, the minister stated that providing affordable housing for government employees is a top priority for the administration. He further stated that the federal government will set quotas in these housing complexes for lawyers, journalists, members of Parliament, and civil citizens. He highlighted that the federal government has approved a number of projects to make home buying for government employees a reality. Later, he was briefed on the Sky Gardens project by Federal Government Employee Housing Authority (FGEHA) Director General (DG) Tariq Rashid. According to the DG, the project will span 6,000 kanals and will have a 70% quota for government employees and 30% for the private sector. Furthermore, around 530 kanal of land is set aside for green spaces, with adequate space set up for schools, universities, and mosques. Moreover, apartments will be built on around 500 kanals of land.

It is worth noting that the government has launched a number of housing schemes for government employees in the last five years, with many projects nearly complete and ready for ownership.
