Karachi: Sindh Minister for Works and Services Syed Zia Abbas Shah on Monday (March 22) revealed that work on 700 development projects is underway in the province, according to news reports.

The minister, while chairing a high-level meeting of the department, directed all the concerned officers to ensure the steady progress of the schemes. Secretary Works and Services Imran Atta Soomro, executive engineers, superintending engineers, provincial chief engineers, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
Sharing the details of the ongoing projects, the secretary disclosed:
- 114 development projects have been completed in the current year
- 211 development projects will be completed during the existing year
- Out of 401 new development projects, administrative approval has been acquired for 97% of projects
- Ongoing projects include 293 projects of road sector
- 401 projects include 6 ongoing projects of buildings

The director highways informed that a total of 162 new development projects are planned for the improvement of highways in the Hyderabad region. He further added that 156 development projects have been completed while 6 projects have been issued. Moreover, the chief engineer of the Sukkur region stated that there are 71 ongoing road sector projects in the region, which will be completed in the current year.
