Lahore: Anti-Corruption Department has sought details from Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on illegal construction of commercial buildings in eight neighbourhoods in the city, reported a news source. In this regard, Anti-Corruption Deputy Director Shahrukh Khan Niazi sent a formal letter to the LDA. The department has also mentioned that LDA officers involved in the matter will also be interrogated.
On the instructions of Anti-Corruption Lahore Region Director Muhammad Asghar, a formal inquiry against illegally constructed commercial buildings has been started. The department has asked LDA to share records of Usmania Hotel located adjacent to Jinnah Hospital, two commercial buildings on Jail Road, illegal showrooms on Khayaban-e-Firdousi, a commercial plaza near Centre Point, all marquees illegally set up on Defence Road between Bhuptian Chowk and Shanu Baba Gol Chakar, and an illegally constructed restaurant in Allama Iqbal Town.
The letter has also demanded the names of LDA officers involved in letting illegal construction in the mentioned areas continue.
