Gujrat: A proposal to install as many as one thousand close-circuit security cameras in the six major towns of the Gujrat district has been approved — under the auspices of the local police department’s safe city project, according to news sources.
The camera installations are expected to be executed under a private-public partnership (PPP) model. As a result, the project has been launched in collaboration with the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), the trader’s association, and a private firm.
Up until now, 150 cameras have been installed in various commercial areas of Gujrat city. With CPLC’s cooperation, a control room has also been established at police lines, and staff members have been hired so that they may monitor the feed from the cameras 24-hours a day.
