Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Monday revealed that the Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway and Dir Expressway may become part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in the next meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on July 16, according to news sources.

Two socioeconomic development projects for the province have been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP). In an interaction with the media, the chief minister noted that the completion of these highways will pave the way for the province’s rapid development and enhanced transportation facilities. It will also boost regional economic and commercial activity.
Furthermore, Mr Mahmood Khan directed that relevant authorities devise a new mechanism to eliminate challenges to private land acquisition for public welfare projects and submit it to the Cabinet. Similarly, he directed that the lands controlled by various departments of government be transferred to the provincial government.

Furthermore, the minister ordered the industries department to complete the environmental study for the development of the Buner marble city within a month.
