Lahore: Deputy commissioners and departments concerned have been directed to compile data of the state land retrieved to avoid re-encroachment at the hands of illegal occupants and land mafias, a news source reported. Lahore Commissioner Dr Mujtaba Paracha issued the directives.
He underscored the need to use modern technology that would be helpful in the ongoing anti-encroachment drive against illegal dwellers. He added that the Punjab Government has already established an anti-encroachment cell for the supervision of its land.
Sharing the contents of a progress report on the operation, the commissioner said that the district administration has retrieved over 53,700 kanals of land worth around PKR 38 billion from illegal occupants and encroachers since the operation commenced on October 2.
He added that the anti-encroachment operation is underway in Shah Alam Market, Barkat Market and other notable areas of the provincial capital. Besides, utmost efforts are being made to restore Mughal and British era structures and establishments, including the Shah Alam Market, to their original state.
