Islamabad: Jamshed Thomas MNA led a delegation of bishops to the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday and handed over a cheque worth PKR 5,650,000 to the Prime Minister as a donation to the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund on behalf of the Pakistan Catholic Bishops Conference, according to sources. The meeting was held at the PM’s office in Islamabad. Seven Catholic Dioceses in Pakistan contributed to the total amount, namely Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Quetta, and Faisalabad.

The members of the delegation included Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw, Archbishop of Lahore; Bishop Inderias Rehmat, Bishop Elect of Faisalabad; Bishop Benny Mario Travas, Bishop of Multan; President of Pakistan Catholic Bishops Archbishop Joseph Arshad, and John Phillip.

Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciated the gesture immensely. He reassured the bishops of the government’s dedication to upholding minority rights while addressing the problems these communities face.
