Peshawar: Contractors working on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project have started disassembling Malik Saad Shaheed flyover, according to a news report. Demolition of the asphalt top, concrete layers, and safety walls of the flyover near Lady Reading Hospital has been started. This work is being done to make way for the BRT corridor’s Reach-1 to Reach-2 near the Bala Hisar Fort.
The contractors have been given April 20 as a deadline to complete this demolition and have been instructed to remove the surface pavement carefully to preserve the bridge’s girders for use again. These instructions were imparted by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak. The bridge shall be merged into a corridor being built for the BRT.
