Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to dispose of the debris that has been collecting on the Kashmir Highway through an auction process, a news source reported.

CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed issued instructions to this effect on Wednesday. He directed the Engineering and Estate Wing to advertise the auction process for removing debris lying on the right of way (ROW) of Kashmir Highway.

Before commencing with the auction process, the authority is expected to ask the citizens to clear their demolished property materials themselves. In case of poor response, CDA will auction the debris to clean the site.

The civic agency also plans to initiate a tree plantation campaign on the sides of the Kashmir Highway in collaboration with the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

Meanwhile, CDA officials have requested the authorities concerned to address the issue of throwing debris on greenbelts by private contractors in sectors I-8 and H-8.
