Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise returns for the tax period of February 2025, moving the due date from March 18 to March 27, 2025.
The decision follows a request from the Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA), which sought additional time due to system glitches and difficulties faced by taxpayers in filing their returns on time. In response, the FBR exercised its authority under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, to grant the extension.

The tax authority has issued instructions to Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue across Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to implement the revised deadline.
Taxpayers are advised to take note of the new filing date and ensure timely submission to avoid penalties.
