Lahore: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday visited the Lahore Flyover Bridge near Arfa Karim IT Tower and Central Business District Underpass, and gave deadlines for the completion of these projects, according to news published on April 17. PM Sharif gave a two-week deadline for completing the CBD Underpass project and a 1-month deadline for the completion of Lahore Flyover Bridge.

During his visit to the Lahore Flyover Bridge, the PM was briefed that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) proposed the PKR 1,712 million worth project in 2021. However, the development of the project was delayed by two years due to the issuance of a no-objection certificate.
During his visit to the CBD Underpass, Sharif termed the delay in construction to be unfair and appointed a renowned third party for validation at the cost of the construction company. He also instructed expedited development work and directed the concerned officials to pay laborers three times the normal payment for working during Eid Holidays.

CBD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin detailed the PM about the CBD Underpass project – which has entered the final phase of completion. It was highlighted that the project will be completed after Eid-ul-Fitr. The PM asked the LDA to ensure high-quality construction for citizens’ safety. PM Shehbaz was joined by Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the chief secretary and other senior officials.
Later, at the CM residence, the PM also received briefing on Imamia Colony Flyover project and the proposed Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Link Road. He instructed for rapid development of the former and the constitution of a three-member committee to present a detailed briefing on the latter.
