Rawalpindi: The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department will launch a crackdown against property tax defaulters from January 28 – a news source reported.
The E&T officials previously prepared a list of 300 tax defaulters whose dues exceeded PKR 100,000. These officials presented the list to circle inspectors during a high-level meeting.
The department notified the defaulters to clear their dues till January 26. It also tasked 21 circle inspectors to initiate contacts with these individuals for recovery of dues.
Taxation Officer Riaz Virk said that the department will issue arrest warrants after January 26. The crackdown against tax defaulters will commence from Monday.
The E&T Department had last year announced a 5% rebate on property tax. It asked the tax filers to submit their property taxes in any branch of the National Bank of Pakistan or State Bank.
