Islamabad: Federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz has directed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) to resolve public complaints on a priority basis and clear the back log of grievances by August 20 — a news source reported on August 12.

While chairing a high-level meeting that was also attended by the chiefs of OGRA, SNGPL and SSGCL, Shahbaz noted that complaints against gas companies had risen by 120% during the last month and a half. He instructed that the companies should streamline their processes in order to ensure that complaints were resolved effectively and quickly.
The companies were also asked to implement all the decisions taken by August 20.

The ombudsman further directed OGRA to establish a way to monitor the complaint management system for both companies. He added that the gas companies should appoint focal persons for the purpose as well.
