Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the local government department to complete the portion of Malir Expressway up to Quaidabad within eight months, according to a news story published on April 21.

CM Shah chaired a meeting to review the pace of work on the 39-kilometre-long Malir Expressway. During the meeting, the minister was informed that the construction of the said project is progressing at a fast pace. So far, 15-kilometre earthwork has been completed, from Jam Sadiq Bridge to Quaidabad; however, there are some issues that must be resolved.

Moreover, the attendees were notified that the progress of construction activities is ongoing in full swing. The development updates included the construction of temporary service roads for smooth movement of construction equipment and grubbing and cleaning on the main alignment. It was also disclosed that there was an issue involving land ownership. CM Shah has ordered the chief secretary to resolve the issue with help from the concerned authorities to ensure continuous work flow. Reportedly, the chief minister has directed the city police chief to place a police picket at the project site of Malir Expressway for the security of labourers and machinery. He also asked the local government department to keep visiting the site to ensure timely completion.
