Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has declared the deputy commissioners concerned as the head of operations at the district level in case of natural calamities and emergencies, a news source reported.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department notified the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to this effect on Thursday.
The SOPs have defined relevant instructions for the district administration, Rescue 1122, district control rooms, civil defence, and line departments in case of any untoward incident or emergency.
As per reports, the DC, who will now serve as the head of the district disaster management unit, will declare emergency in the district. Similarly, the assistant commissioner (headquarters) will act as the district disaster management officer. He will be tasked with ensuring that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) gets immediately informed about any incident that requires swift response.

Moreover, the district administration will assess the situation and give directions to the departments concerned within the district with respect to response against emergencies.
