Rawalpindi: Divisional Commissioner Joudat Ayaz has launched an inquiry against the initial permission granted to five housing societies, a news source reported. Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) had provided an initial permission to these housing societies, which then began selling land before receiving a final approval.

A senior RDA official revealed that the civic body had granted an initial approval to five housing societies last month. He said that after this initial approval, a society has six months to present layout plan. It can only start selling plots once this layout plan is approved, and received clearance from the land revenue department, he added.
The official stated that in the case of said societies, the revenue department had objected to owners not having compact land in their possession. The revenue officials informed Ayaz of this problem, who then took notice as the societies began selling plots.
