Multan: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aamir Khattak has directed the departments concerned; including the metropolitan corporation, tehsil councils, municipal committees, and local government institutions to dedicate 1% of their budget allotment to Civil Defence – a news source reported.
He issued these directives during a meeting held at his office. He further said that the departments were legally bound to dedicate 1% of their budget to the civil defence under the local government laws. He said the department provided its services during religious events; in addition to facilitating the removal of encroachments and providing security services for VIPs.
The DC also inaugurated a waste management centre at Shamsabad. He said that centre would help improve the hygiene conditions, and cleanliness in at least eight union councils.
