Faisalabad: Divisional Commissioner (DC) Ishrat Ali has announced the local government’s decision to develop the district on a timely basis, a news source reported. He said that the ‘expeditious uplift of Faisalabad division’ was his top agenda. He added that in this regard, the departments concerned had also designed a progressive strategy for resolving the administrative and development problems on a daily basis.

Speaking at a meeting of the business community in the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he lauded the role of Faisalabad in boosting the national economy. He added that the Punjab government had released funds worth PKR 200 million, and he hoped that one side of the under-construction Kashmir Underpass on Canal Road would open for traffic within a month.

The DC added that they are making all efforts for completing the said project before the end of June. He revealed that the provincial government had included the construction of Faisalabad-Jaranwala, Faisalabad-Chiniot, and Faisalabad-Samundri roads in the annual Maintenance & Repair Programme of the Communication & Works Department. He expressed his hope that the development work would begin on the said projects in June.

In regards to linking Faisalabad to Lahore-Karachi Motorway, he said that authorities concerned had identified three sites for the project. He added that he would prefer a site where the journey could be shortened the most between Faisalabad and Lahore. The project will require federal or provincial grant, he said.
