Lahore: The Punjab government has empowered the Deputy Commissioner (DC) concerned to approve high-rise buildings on 15 major roads falling under the Lahore Development Authority’s jurisdiction, a news source reported on January 27.

Going forward, the DC will also serve as chairman of the High-Level Design Committee (HLDC). The deputy commissioner already exercises the powers to approve high-rise buildings for 20 major roads under local municipal administration’s jurisdiction in the same role.

The new roads include Main Boulevard Gulberg, MM Alam Road, road running from Kalma Chowk to Jinnah Hospital, Peco Road, College Road, Model Tow Link Road, Dr Hospital to Expo Centre Road, Thokhar to Shaukat Khanum Road, Main Raiwind Road, Noor Jehan Road, Mian Mahmood Ali Kasoori Road, Ali Zeb Road Gulberg, Egerton Road, Zahoor Ilahi Road and Maulana Shaukat Ali Road. During the upcoming meeting of HLDC, relevant officials from LDA, TEPA, PHA and WASA are expected to review the approvals of high-rise buildings.
