Islamabad: Pakistan has invited Japanese businessmen to invest in small and medium enterprises, IT, and agriculture sectors, a news source reported. A seminar in this regard was held at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in Japan.
The seminar was jointly organised by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), METI, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce and Textiles and the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan.
Addressing the participants at the seminar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Trade Abdul Razak Dawood said Pakistan had a longstanding trade and investment relationship with Japan.
He said that the balance sheets of multinational corporations operating in Pakistan reflected that they were making profits. He added that Pakistan had shifted from its traditional sectors of textile and leather to the export of engineering goods.
Highlighting the economic agenda of the incumbent government, Dawood said the new leadership was determined to overcome the current economic challenges by formulating investment-friendly, development-focused and people-centric policies.
