Islamabad: Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has officially announced that the New Gwadar International Airport will commence operations on January 20, 2025. The much-anticipated airport is expected to become a regional hub for both domestic and international flights, according to news sources.
The CAA notification confirmed that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will operate the initial flights. This marks the first written confirmation of the airport’s operational readiness. Additionally, several local and foreign airlines have expressed interest in launching services from the new facility, signaling its potential to enhance regional connectivity and economic activity.

Located in Balochistan’s Gwadar city, the airport is a pivotal project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
