Islamabad: A US-based vendor firm has provided the federal government with a dashboard facility that will assist the centre in real-time monitoring of oil and gas production and exploration, according to a news report published on August 17.

To this effect, the Petroleum Division on Sunday revealed that it had launched the said application in collaboration with the US-based petroleum technology firm LMKP. It further stated that the EMS dashboard was a digital transformation initiative designed to assist Pakistan in the use of data analytics, data mining and data learning for making data-driven decisions and boosting oil and gas production levels.
As per reports, the ‘Exploration Management System’ is a windows-based, multiple-user GIS database application created to empower the Directorate of Petroleum Concession (DGPC) to access exploration and production details. According to officials, this facility will assist the government in decision making regarding reduced production, shut-in wells, delayed drillings and suspended wells.

Previously, upon receiving requests from the provincial governments, the , in November 2017, had decided to communicate real-time data on oil, gas and power production and consumption with the provinces in a bid to promote transparency in the calculation of duties and taxes.
