Islamabad: Danish investors have stated they will participate in the bidding process for renewable energy projects in Pakistan, according to a news source. This process is expected to start in the third or fourth quarter of this year. It will start after the renewable energy policy is approved.
This commitment was made in a meeting held between Danish renewable energy investors and Minister for Power Omar Khan Ayub. The Danish delegation was led by Denmark Ambassador to Pakistan Rolf Michael Hay Pereira Holmobe. Prime Minister’s Task Force on Energy Chairman Nadeem Babar was also present.
Holmobe expressed his satisfaction over the government’s plans. He stated that Danish investors were keenly interested in the power sector of Pakistan. Additionally, he reiterated that Danish technology in the renewable energy sector is among the top in the world.
The Minister for Power welcomed the Danish interests. He added that Pakistan aims to increase the mix of affordable energy project by 20% till 2025 and by 30% till 2030. Currently, the share of these projects in the energy mix is 4%.
