Rawalpindi – Punjab Government has not yet acquired land from Bahria Town and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for the construction of Daducha Dam. However, the Government has sought tenders for conducting feasibility study of the dam.
Different firms have been requested by Provincial Irrigation Department to submit their expression of interest by 1st April, 2014. The feasibility study is expected to complete in a period of one year and the Government has allocated Rs. 48 million for conducting this study.
The proposal for the construction of Daducha Dam was given by Small Dams Organization (SDO) and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) in 2001. However, the project could not be started during the previous Government’s tenure. In 2006, DHA in joint venture with Bahria Town launched a residential society on the land where Daducha Dam was to be built.
