Islamabad: Landowning affectees of the Daducha Dam project have approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for increased monetary compensation in lieu of their land tracts forsaken for the initiative – as the deadline of December 2021 set for dam completion nears, according to news sources.

The Daducha Dam landowners filed a petition in the LHC against the land acquisition rate of PKR 75,000 per kanal. As per the petitioners, their land – which lies adjacent to the prominent schemes like Bahria Town, Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and the Industrial Area – has the market rate of PKR 5 million per kanal. The Daducha Dam landowners added that the government is acquiring 220 kanals in Mangot and Dadhar at PKR 75,000 per kanal.

In turn, the LHC issued a notice seeking a reply from the district administration, after the preliminary hearing. They said that the area is part of Kallar Syedan, Kahuta and Rawalpindi tehsils of Rawalpindi district.
