Rawalpindi: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, during her inaugural visit to Rawalpindi, toured the Dadocha Dam site to examine the progress of construction activities, as reported in a news article on March 1.

According to the details, officials from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) provided updates on the project’s advancement, highlighting that work on the dam recommenced in November 2023. The ongoing process of releasing water to the spillway is in motion, and efforts are underway to finalise the revised PC-1, aligning with the court’s decision to reassess the land’s value.
Notably, the acquisition of 16,194 kanals and 14 marlas of land from Rawalpindi and Kalar Syedan areas for the dam, situated 25 km from Rawalpindi, has been completed. With a height of 123 feet, a length of 737 feet, and a catchment area covering 129 square miles, the Dadocha Dam is expected to be completed by November 2025, as directed by CM Maryam.

Financial progress stands at 40%, while physical progress is at 12%. CM Maryam stressed the importance of expediting work by deploying additional machinery and workforce across different sections of the site. Recognising Pakistan’s looming water scarcity challenges, she underscored the significance of rainwater conservation through the construction of more dams.
