The Additional Advocate General Punjab, Qasim Ali Chohan, reported that 75% of the work on the spillways had been completed; however, the building work was halted due to directives from the Lahore High Court (LHC).
To shed further light on the matter, he claimed that the first notification for land purchase was made in 2010. In 2020, a second notification was issued, which was contested in court. The LHC Rawalpindi Bench issued a stay order in April 2021, preventing the Punjab Irrigation Department from continuing work on the Dadhocha Dam.
Rabnawaz and other landowners filed a petition alleging that the administration was not providing a fair market price.
A three-member Supreme Court bench led by Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the land acquisition case of Dadhocha Dam. It was determined that work on the spillways of Dadhocha Dam will resume.
