Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza on Thursday revealed that the construction of the Dadhocha Dam would be completed in three years at a developmental cost of PKR 6 billion, according to news sources.
He expressed his views on the matter during a visit to the Dadhocha Dam project site. He said that the project will help facilitate the water requirements of Rawalpindi. He said that the Punjab government had approved both Dadhocha and Chahan dams and the construction work on projects will be completed soon.
The chairman was briefed about the project development by the officials concerned of Small Dams Organisation. He was told that once operational, this project will supply 25 million gallons of water per day to the residents of the city. The dam is estimated to have the storage capacity of 60,000-acre feet – with live level storage capacity of 45,000-acre feet and dead level storage capacity of 15,000-acre feet.
Furthermore, Deputy Director WASA Aziz Ullah Khan announced on the occasion that the agency will develop a mainline for water supply from the dam and construct a water treatment plant.
