Rahim Yar Khan: The Government of Punjab has decided to sever connection for defaulters of sewerage bills, reported a news source. In this regard, the Rahim Yar Khan Municipal Committee has also received the formal orders.
The provincial government had imposed sewerage tax on its commercial and domestic consumers back in July 2011. Reportedly, complete authority was extended to municipal committees of Rahim Yar Khan District for collection of the fee. The committee has been facing troubles to collect the dues as the consumers used delay tactics.
Following the government’s order to recover the pending dues, the municipal committees have sent notices to the defaulters. The notice clearly states that sewerage connection for those failing to clear the dues will be terminated.
The municipal committees need revenue in order to fix existing sewerage issues in the city. Due to financial cringe, the provincial government has been unable to provide funds to these committees.
