Gwadar: The Chinese government has spent PKR 1.5 trillion (RMB 5 billion) in Gwadar under corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the last seven years, news sources reported on May 23.
As per the report, the numbers were shared by China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) Chairman Zhang Bao Zhang during a two-day conference on CPEC. He said that the amount was spent on the development of various projects of public interest, including healthcare infrastructure and city development. Some of the projects that were funded include:

- 300-bed China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital

- China-Pakistan Fraternity Emergency Center
- 1.2 MGD desalination plat

The chairman stated that four new Chinese investors will visit Gwadar in the near future to explore investment opportunities in the refinery, textile, petrochemical, and agricultural sectors. It is worth noting that the COPH has undertaken several environmental and social projects, including the clean and green Gwadar project, which resulted in the planting of up to 50,000 plants in the region.
