Rawalpindi: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik has announced the local police department’s decision to launch a crime app, in addition to setting up a ‘helper’ button facility in the city’s police stations, to facilitate citizens in registering their complaints to the authorities – a news source reported.

He expressed his view on the matter during a media briefing. He said that the alert buttons would be installed with a purpose to receive citizens’ feedback. Anyone pressing the button will be able to able to place an emergency call to all the senior police officers operating in the area concerned, he added.

He revealed that if a citizen presses the button, an SOS message will be generated. Resultantly, RPO, district, and circle police officers will all receive the message. He expressed his hope that this service would allow the masses to lodge any complaints without fear; since the officials at the station will not be able to ignore the complaints in such a case.
He said that the app was being introduced to ensure transparency in the police department.
