Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is planning a crackdown against housing schemes which have violated the layout plans approved by the civic agency, a news source reported. Action will also be carried out against such schemes found to have changed the public utility areas for the construction of schools, mosques, parks and parking spaces.

RDA Chairman Mohammad Arif Abbasi said that the civic body has approved the layout plans of 46 housing schemes, and that 36 have been declared illegal.
He also urged the remaining housing societies to get their layout plans approved from the civic agency in accordance with the law – or face penalties. It is pertinent to mention here that several schemes have changed their street and road maps to create more plots.
