Rawalpindi: The Excise and Taxation Department has decided to launch a crackdown against property tax defaulters in Punjab, a news source reported. The decision was taken after the deadline for submission of property taxes expired on December 31.
Prior to the expiry, taxpayers had the opportunity to avail 5% rebate on property tax. The taxes had to be paid in any branch of the National Bank or State Bank.
The officials concerned have been tasked to compile a list of tax defaulters and a grand operation is expected to be launched next week in Rawalpindi and rest of the province.
The Punjab Government had earlier announced its decision to raise the property tax by 10% and the excise department said it had updated its software which included the revised amount.
