Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority has form teams to carry out legal actions against illegal housing schemes in the city, reported a news source. The crackdown is being carried out on the instructions of Lahore High Court Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi.
The housing societies that are being developed according to their respective plans submitted with the LDA will be granted formal approvals, while developers of those projects that being developed without an approval will face related legal actions.
Reportedly, LDA has prepared a list of 500 illegal housing societies, out of which 150 have been served with legal notices. While preparing a list of illegal housing societies in Lahore Division on orders of Justice Qureshi, it was found out that most of these housing societies are located in Kasur; 170. Nankana has 42 unapproved housing societies, the two zones of Lahore are home to a total of 140 illegal housing societies, while Sheikhupura has 150 of them.
Out of these unapproved housing societies, applications for only a few have been submitted with the development authority.
