Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued directives for a crackdown against service stations operating without recycling plants, a news source reported.

LHC Justice Shahid Karim ordered the officials concerned to share a progress report on the implementation of the water commission’s recommendations for conserving groundwater with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
Previously, the Punjab Water Commission had submitted to Justice Karim its recommendations with regard to groundwater conservation.

Advocate Kamal Haider, the commission’s counsel, requested the court to issue directives for the provision of security to the assistant commissioner, who was recently tasked with launching the crackdown.
In response, the court maintained that water conservation was an extremely important issue which could not be ignored.

However, the authorities concerned have yet to announce the official commencement date for their drive against car-wash stations which operate without recycling equipment.
