Multan: Multan Division Commissioner Javed Akhtar has directed the officials concerned to launch a crackdown against the developers of illegal housing schemes operating in the city, according to a news report shared on September 23.

The commissioner issued the directives while chairing a meeting held to the review progress of the MDA. He further instructed the development authority to retrieve the state-owned land from encroachers. Akhtar also took notice of the illegal constructions and directed the MDA to make the land approval and land-use conversion process more efficient.

He also hinted at introducing an online portal for people who had to visit the MDA office multiple times for payment of dues. Moreover, the commissioner directed the city administration to team up with the MDA and shift the Ghala Mandi, Timber Market, Truck Stand and the Loha Market out of Multan City.
