Peshawar: A crackdown has been launched against over 130 unregistered service stations in Peshawar, according to a news report. This measure has been taken to conserve water inside the province. Service stations which have not been registered will be sealed. Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Imran Hamid Shaikh gave the orders for this operation.
The chief of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) Khan Zeb revealed that 135 unregistered service stations were operating within the city. WSSP will register these stations once their owners pay the required registration charges and monthly fees. Shaikh stated that no illegal stations would be allowed to operate. He also told WSSP to keep the water tables in mind when registering new service stations.
Similar operations are being carried out by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Rawalpindi and other cities. The usage of water in service stations is being regulated to conserve the water supply. With water shortage being a dire issue, the authorities concerned take such operations very seriously.
